Commissions & Committees

The Ward Planning Commission:  The Planning  Commission  is  a  body of citizens  that  serve  within  local  government,  acting  as  an  advisory group  to  the  municipal  governing  body on issues  and  policies  related  to  planning,  land  use  regulation,  and  community development.    Planning Commissioners  act  as  citizen  planners  and  work  to  develop  plans  and  implementation  policies  that  affect how their  community manages  changes  in  growth  and  development.  Members must live in the city limits of Ward or within one (1) mile of the city limits in the city territorial jurisdiction area and cannot be a full-time or part-time employee.  Membership consists of seven (7) members serving five (5) year terms who are appointed by the Mayor and meet on a monthly basis.  

Planning Commission Meetings are every 4th Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Court/Council Chambers at Ward Municipal Complex. 

 

The Ward Water and Sewer Advisory Committee:  The Water and Sewer Advisory Committee was created as a result of Act 605 of 2021 and enacted via Ward Resolution R-2024-03. The committee is charged with reviewing matters pertaining to the Ward Water and Sewer System that will be brought forward by the City Council, the Mayor, or customer (on a case-by-case basis).    Water customers who are members, serve two-year staggered terms, and are appointed by the City Council.  The Committee meets as determined by the Chairperson.
