Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Public Works Foreman, the Waste Operations Lead Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of city water tanks, water lines, valves, and other water related infrastructure. Performs duty related water quality sampling as per the requirements of the Arkansas Department of Health. Supervises assigned Wastewater Operators.

Minimum Qualifications:
- A citizen of the United States.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- A valid Arkansas driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past three years.
- A minimum of four years’ experience as a license Water Operator. Possess a class D3 Water Distribution license or have a D2 water distribution license and able to obtain a D3 within one year of employment.
- Knowledge with Excel, Word, and other computer programs preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work independently on a variety of assigned tasks.
- Creates and maintains on-call duty roster.
- Plans and coordinates weekly activities of the water operators.
- Inspect, operate, test, and maintain a variety of water pumping equipment, water storage facilities, valves, water lines, and other related infrastructure related to water distribution system. Collect water samples and deliver to ADH as needed.
- Ensure adequate supply of water in maintained for public use.
- Read and interpret drawings; diagrams and blueprints; record and log a variety of readings.
- Use a variety of power and hand tools, performs a variety of related carpentry, pipefitting, valve repair, and cement work.
- Communicate with customers through the usage of hangars, flyers, and written notes while adhering to the city’s policies and procedures.
- Utilize computer software programs.

- Skilled in multi-tasking.
- Ability to obtain knowledge of wastewater distribution procedures, equipment, material, and tools used in the operation and maintenance of motors, pumps, compressors, and other equipment.
- Ability to speak effectively with citizens, business professionals, or employees of the City.
- Ability to use tact, diplomacy, and courtesy in dealing with the public and fellow employees.
- Ability to keep track of details.
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and machinery.
- Ability to work irregular hours to include weekends, holidays, evenings and/or varying shifts.
