DEPUTY COURT CLERK

 

Job Title:         Deputy Court Clerk                             

Department:  District Court                                      Reports To:  Mayor

  1. Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Court Clerk and the general supervision of the Mayor and District Court Judge, processes court documents and payments in a timely manner to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the court system.

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Enter Warrants and Citations (local, county, state) in computer database system.
    2. Works closely with the local Police Departments, Sheriff’s Department, State Troopers, State Police, State Game and Fish, and all Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
    3. Perform background checks in court database.
    4. Prepare folders for all court cases set for plea.
    5. Notify officers and witnesses of court dates thru subpoena process.
    6. Administer oaths for warrants.
    7. Greet the public at the window.
    8. Receives and receipts for payments received at the window and over the phone.
    9. Inputs data into the office’s cash register and utility billing program.
    10. Operates office equipment to include, but not limited to, computer, cash register, credit card machine, etc.
    11. Accept and process papers for service of notice to vacate.
    12. File and answer phones.
    13. Assist the Chief Clerk in the courtroom.
    14. All other duties assigned.

 

  1. Minimum Qualifications:
    1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    2. Minimum of one (1) year experience in the use of computers.
    3. Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
    4. Have and maintain a current valid Arkansas Drivers’ license before and during employment.

 

  1. Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Needed:
    1. Knowledge of good filing and record keeping methods.
    2. Knowledge of current laws and practices for District Courts.
    3. Skilled in multi-tasking.
    4. Ability to read and interpret documents and write proper correspondence.
    5. Ability to speak effectively with citizens, business professionals, or employees of the City.
    6. Ability to keep track of details
