DEPUTY COURT CLERK

- Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Court Clerk and the general supervision of the Mayor and District Court Judge, processes court documents and payments in a timely manner to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the court system.

- Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enter Warrants and Citations (local, county, state) in computer database system.
- Works closely with the local Police Departments, Sheriff’s Department, State Troopers, State Police, State Game and Fish, and all Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
- Perform background checks in court database.
- Prepare folders for all court cases set for plea.
- Notify officers and witnesses of court dates thru subpoena process.
- Administer oaths for warrants.
- Greet the public at the window.
- Receives and receipts for payments received at the window and over the phone.
- Inputs data into the office’s cash register and utility billing program.
- Operates office equipment to include, but not limited to, computer, cash register, credit card machine, etc.
- Accept and process papers for service of notice to vacate.
- File and answer phones.
- Assist the Chief Clerk in the courtroom.
- All other duties assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in the use of computers.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
- Have and maintain a current valid Arkansas Drivers’ license before and during employment.
- Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Needed:
- Knowledge of good filing and record keeping methods.
- Knowledge of current laws and practices for District Courts.
- Skilled in multi-tasking.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and write proper correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with citizens, business professionals, or employees of the City.
